St. Philip’s Lunch Crew Serves up Home-Cooked Meals each Wednesday

Elaine Rash and George Cahlink prepare the sweet potatoes for St. Philip’s Wednesday Thanksgiving Lunch.

The Juniata News would like to send a great big thank you to St. Philip’s Wednesday Lunch, 718 E. Tioga Street.

Elaine and George Cahlink received a prompting from God to go back to Elaine’s childhood church and serve the neighborhood and the people here in Kensington — and what they’ve done is amazing. On Wednesdays, for 18 years, they have been serving a hot lunch to anyone who wishes to attend and enjoy a meal, along with good conversation. They take the summer and holidays off, but always do something special around holidays.

On Wednesday, November 20th, they had a traditional Thanksgiving meal with turkey and all the trimmings!

Along with Elaine Cahlink, the Wednesday Lunch Coordinator, and her husband George Cahlink, the cook, the Wednesday Lunch Staff includes Elaine Rash, John Douthit, Tamula Creveling, Susan Patterson, Bill and Nancy Wolfe. They are truly a special group of wonderful people who are doing so much good in the neighborhood.

St. Philip’s United Methodist Church will host their Christmas Lunch on Wednesday, December 18th — 718 E. Tioga Street. Everyone is invited to come and enjoy a home-cooked meal and Christian fellowship. You’re asked to arrive by 11:15 am and no later than 11:45 am to get a seat.
