Flames Damage Chevere Mini Market & 2nd Floor Apartment

The morning light today unveiled the damage done to Chevere Mini Market and a 2nd floor apartment by a fire on Saturday evening, April 25th.

The convenience store, located at the corner of Markland and Luzerne Streets in Juniata Park, was heavily damaged. A neighbor who lives next door told the Juniata News that she smelled smoke inside her home and feared the fire was inside her house. She said that the people who lived above the store were not at home at the time of the fire. The fire, she added, was extinguished quickly after the Fire Department arrived.

The Philadelphia Fire Department arrived on the scene with heavy fire on the 1st floor. No injuries were reported. Philly Fire News reported that Battalion Chief 10 placed the fire under control at 9:37 pm last night. Engines 7, 14, 28, 5 were called into service, along with Ladders 10, 15, BC 10, 12, Medic 45, Ladder Tower 22 and Rescue 1.
