The Walgreens located at 4001 Kensington Avenue will permanently close at 3:00 pm on Friday, August 7, 2020.
The store was affected by the looting that was widespread on June 1st, but a source at the store told the Juniata News that it wasn’t the reason for closing. According to that source, employees knew something was happening, and that the store was giving up, when they were instructed to not even call the police when people were stealing from the store earlier this year. People could just pick up anything and walk out without any consequences.
The store itself is currently not open to customers, but the drive-thru pharmacy is available until the 3:00 pm August 7th closing.
When the store closed due to looting, customers were instructed to go to the Walgreens at 1607 Bridge Street. The store at Kensington and Allegheny Avenues was also closed at that time due to devastating looting. Now that the K&A store (1809 E. Allegheny Avenue) is open again, customers are being told that they can visit that store for their prescription needs.
A Juniata News reader shared a letter that she received in the mail from Walgreens, also advising customers to visit the store at Kensington and Allegheny Avenues (pictured above).
