The suspect who shot a customer (off-duty security guard) at Wawa on Friday morning at 4:45 am has been taken into custody.
Police say that the 22-year-old suspect entered the Wawa at L Street and Erie Avenue in Juniata and got into an argument with the Wawa security guard who was enforcing social distancing at the store by limiting the number of customers at any given time.
When the argument turned violent, a customer, who is an off-duty security guard, joined to assist the Wawa security guard. The suspect shot the off-duty security guard, 25-year-old Khalil Patterson, in the chest.
Patterson was taken to St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children where he was listed in critical condition, and then transferred to Temple University Hospital.
Information on the identity of the 22-year-old suspect has not yet been released. The suspect is expected to be charged with attempted murder.
